Important Notes!

Your application will be rejected if:

  • The document package is incomplete;

  • You submit a forged or expired document;
  • Any document expires or more than 7 days pass after your entry into the Russian Federation;
  • You have outstanding tuition or accommodation fees.

Before Arrival in the Russian Federation

All foreign students must notify the Department for Work with Foreign Students at the University via email: miep01@mail.ru no later than 10 days before arrival.

After Arrival in Russia:

All foreign citizens entering the Russian Federation must be registered for migration accounting.

Registration cannot be processed without a migration card bearing an official stamp from border control confirming entry into the Russian Federation.

According to Order No. 655 of the Federal Migration Service of Russia (December 15, 2014), documents for extending migration registration must be submitted no later than 7 working days before the current registration expires.

Please note that processing takes time. We strongly recommend submitting your documents for registration renewal at least 3 weeks before expiry.

Migration Registration Process

The Institute provides migration registration for foreign students.

Students on correspondence programmes are registered only during examination sessions. Procedure for Initial or Renewed Migration Registration:

  1. The foreign student completes a contract for additional services at the Accounting Department, receives a payment slip, and pays the fee;

  2. Once the payment is credited to the Institute’s account, the Accounting Department notifies the CIR officer;
  3. Based on this confirmation, the CIR officer collects the student’s documents, processes them, and submits them to the GUMVD.

Applying for a Study Visa

  1. The student, applicant, or their authorized representative completes a contract for additional services at the Accounting Department, receives a payment slip, and pays the fee;

  2. After payment is confirmed, the Accounting Department notifies the CIR officer;
  3. The officer collects, processes, and submits the documents to the GUMVD;
  4. Upon receiving the official study invitation, the student applies for a single-entry visa (valid up to 90 days) at the nearest Russian consulate;
  5. After arriving in Saint Petersburg, the student must complete migration registration within 3 working days.

Applying for a Multiple-Entry Visa

  1. At least one month before the current visa expires, the student or their representative completes a contract for additional services at the Accounting Department, receives a payment slip, and pays the fee;
  2. After payment is confirmed, the Accounting Department notifies the CIR officer;
  3. The officer collects, processes, and submits the documents to the GUMVD;
  4. The student's passport will be held by the authorities during processing;
  5. After receiving the multiple-entry visa, the student must complete migration registration within 3 working days.

Required Documents

For Migration Registration:

  1. Passport with entry stamp

  2. Notarized translation of the passport
  3. Migration card
  4. Detached copy of the migration registration notification
  5. Educational services contract
  6. Two (2) 3x4 cm photographs
  7. Visa (for visa-required countries)
  8. Place of birth (country, region, district, city/town)
  9. Permanent residence address (country, region, district, city/town, street, house, apartment) for the entire validity period of the visa/migration card
  10. Current address in Saint Petersburg, phone number, email
  11. Entry checkpoint (KPP), marital status, education, and occupation prior to enrollment
  12. Medical certificate confirming completion of fingerprinting (dactyloscopy), Green Card

For Issuing a Study Invitation:

  1. Notarized translation of the first page of the passport

  2. Receipt confirming payment of state duty
  3. Full name (in Cyrillic and Latin script)
  4. Date and place of birth (country, region, district, city/town)
  5. Exact address

For Obtaining or Extending a Multiple-Entry Visa:

  1. Passport with entry stamp

  2. Current visa
  3. Migration card
  4. Detached copy of the migration registration notification
  5. Educational contract with the Institute
  6. Receipt confirming payment of state duty
  7. Two (2) 3x4 cm photographs
  8. Information about relatives residing in the Russian Federation (if any)
